Cracks in the Pavement
The shots are fired,
And we all go down.
The pavement cracks,
Without a sound.
I don’t understand,
Why the hate us so much.
Their eyes so cold,
No love in their touch.
The tears are coming fast,
I pray that I’ll last.
But the evil overwhelms me,
I’m screaming now,
Why won’t they let me be?
I’m fading fast,
I know I can’t last.
Can they not see?
What they have done to me?

This is really good! This might not be the meaning the author is trying to get out but this poem made be thankful for all the stuff I have. Especially in this economy, it is good to have things that you are thankful for(friends, family, house, school, etc.).

Wow. This is amazing. Inspiring, too. It makes me think of like a drive by… gang shooting… that sort of thing. Its really really good. I love the part where it says ‘Their eyes so cold, No love in their touch.’ Thats just pure awesome.

Excellent poem! There is such a broad range of subjects that his could be about. Although this could be simply just another poem, usually the author has a personal connection, which throws everyone off into space thinking about what it could possibly mean. I love it!

haha, Is this Sydneys? (sorry if it isnt, but its her style). anyway.. this is amazing! Its got metophoracal meaning, but it can be littiral too. It makes you think, about what has happend to you, or someone you know. The author seems to conncet in a way, a captivating first three lines. It makes you want to think aginst though, its saying “losing hope” in a way, so it makes the reader want to fight back and keep trying.. very nice work

Very moving. It shows the lack of love in our world today to me. It also shows loneliness and how some feel that they are on their own. I agree with Anna about the metophorical and litteral meaning of the poem. It is telling you to fight and to pray you make it through life. I also got the feeling of war in it. How they don’t care who they kill and they have no compassion in their eyes. Lovely poem and very well written.
